Kosovo, Western Balkans Road Trip, part II
We were travelling across Serbia for few days. Then, we decided that was the moment to continue our road trip get into Kosovo. We recognize that we were afraid of our next step on our road trip.
The Balkan war happened on these countries which’s one day was called Yugoslavia (Land of the South Slavs). Kosovo suffered the war between 1998-99 and finished after 78 days bombing by NATO, then Serbian army decided to evacuate.
Pristina the capital of Kosovo
It’s easily to understand why we were worried. Our idea was to come in to during the day and go out before the night. I don’t understand why but finally we were in front of the border between Serbia and Kosovo at 11 pm, the sky was dark, too dark. We crossed border (probalby the worst experience crossing borders) of our lives thinking in all the people who died on this region. We drove till Pristina where the goal was to find a hostel were to sleep. We slept on a hostel; the boss was a very kind local man who was a professor at the University of Pristina.
We woke up early in the morning decided to explore all day long Kosovo. We spent the morning on Pristina and then we took the car and drive to small towns direction to Montenegro. We couldn’t cross the border to from Kosovo to Serbia because Serbians don’t recognize Kosovo like a country. Literaly, we weren’t in another country, then we couldn’t come back to Serbia. We spent a very nice time on this country. Local people were surprised that three Catalans were travelling around his country.
Kosovo save country
I must said that Kosovo is a save place where you can travel without problems and the local people are so kind helping foreigners.
